Wolfenden Concrete signs the GB Dairy Cow Lameness Manifesto

We’ve been working alongside British dairy farmers for over 40 years now, and we know that healthy cows results in a healthier farm, and that starts from the ground up.

That’s why we’re proud to sign the GB Dairy Cow Lameness Manifesto, a 20-year industry plan aiming to reduce lameness to under 5% in 95% of herds by 2044. It’s a big goal, but one we believe is key to a thriving, sustainable industry.

Why Action 11 matters to us

Action 11 of the manifesto focuses on improving housing, flooring, and cow comfort, areas we know inside out.

Our AgriStride range was built with exactly this in mind. Our concrete slats are designed to last, with durable slip-resistant concrete that help reduce lameness, improve hoof health, and keep cows comfortable.

Backing Actions 5, 9, and 16 too

We’re also proud to support the following actions:

• Action 5: Encouraging farms to record whole-herd lameness prevalence.
• Action 9: Adopting farm-specific lameness reduction plans, like the ‘Healthy Feet’ programme.
• Action 16: Sourcing milk from herds that can demonstrate their lameness levels at least on a six-monthly basis.

These actions align with our commitment to practical, proven solutions that support long-term herd health. While we believe they’ll make a real difference in reducing lameness and align with our overall goal with AgriStride, we’re not fully backing them because we can’t offer the tailored support systems farmers would need to deliver on each one.
