Project: Dairy farm expansion programme including new cattle housing facilities

Beckside Farm is a family-operated, 630- acre enterprise headed by Robert Morris-Eyton. It has been farmed by the same family for over 300 years.
To maximise returns, it was decided to invest in a new cattle housing unit and a state-of-the-art rotary parlour, which would allow the herd size to increase from 250 to 400 cows – not possible with the farm’s old shed and milking parlour.
Wolfenden involvement
We were chosen for this project because we were able to both assist with project design and supply SUPA range concrete slats and slurry channels.
The expansion programme worked to an extremely tight deadline – 12 months from conception to completion to ensure winter housing would be ready for the farm’s in-calf heifers. The herd expansion required a parlour that could milk 200 cows per labour unit per hour.
We supplied over 100 mixed size channel and slat arrangements. Working closely with the team at Beckside, we adhered to a schedule that ensured the cows could be in their new unit within six months.
