Support beams and columns

These come in two forms: for suspended floors using slats and cubicle beds; as hollow columns to sit on slabs over concrete bars supporting precast concrete beams.

Precast concrete beams

Designed to carry slats, solid unite and cubicle beds for suspended floors, over tanks or to support a wide passage.

Beams are provided in standard dimensions, however special beams can be cast to order in lengths of up to 12,000mm.

  • Standard beam dimension: 4000mm x 400mm x 230mm
  • Special beam length of up to 12,000mm long

Hollow concrete columns

Hollow precast concrete columns can site directly on the floor slab over a starter bar that is then filled with concrete. This in turn will support any precast concrete beams used above.

All columns are made to suite each individual project and are available in various heights up to 3500mm.

  • Columns are is 450mm wide and 450mm deep
  • No need to struts
  • Can be laid after slab is cast
  • Up to 3500mm long

What is a support beam?

Support beams and columns are used in construction for a range of industries, including agriculture. Support beams are used to transfer the weight from the vertical columns to horizontal space, improving stability of your structure and maximising safety.

How much weight can beams and columns support?

The amount of weight that beams and columns support are dependant on the material, size, shape and design that you use. Wolfenden Concrete supply both custom made and standard beams, tailored to the space you have available and compliant with all safety standards. What size concrete beams & columns are available?

Wolfenden Concrete standard beam dimensions are 4.000mm x 400mm x 230mm, whilst our special beam lengths can be made up to 12,000mm long.

Our concrete columns are 450mm wide and 450mm deep, whilst being custom made for each individual project. Our column heights span up to 3,500mm.

Are beams and columns compliant with building regulations?

Yes, all beams and columns we produce at Wolfenden Concrete are compliant with building regulations, regardless of the project.
